Google have recently added a research pane as a new feature in Google Docs. The pane is accessed by right-clicking to the right of your open Google Document. A Google search box gives you access to many of the features of a normal Google search, including images.
Text and images from the research pane can be inserted using ‘drag and drop’, with citations and footnotes automatically added to your document.
